Gillis-Judson-Wade
was commissioned to design the people side of this exhibit. Primary design
goals were to use a palette of materials and colors that were reminiscent
of the African velde. Wide, gentle ramps offer a leisurely means of access
for small children, mothers with strollers, as well as the elderly. The
use of wood walls conveys the feeling of being in a village enclosure
until you step "outside" onto the viewing deck.
