In
1995, Gillis-Judson-Wade was commissioned to rescue a project designed
by another firm that was severely over budget. The extensive use of modular
classrooms, connected with a custom-designed concrete and steel covered
walkway brought the project back into line, and realized a savings of
over $750,000 to the client. The covered walkways not only softened the
somewhat stark appearance of the modular classrooms, it also unified the
buildings into what appears to be a cluster of larger custom-designed
buildings. The school opened in time for the transfer of students from
the original Brentwood Elementary campus.
